Hey Hey MKTG 4994. I’m sorry I can’t be in person today. But, Dr. May was cool enough to let us do this class asynchronous style.

Here is what you need to do:

  1. Watch this video from Cathy O’Neal to learn about the dark-side of algorithms.

2. Then watch this video from my lab on how to do algorithm audits (till the 29:49 mark)

3. Then you will answer these three questions:

●What is an algorithm?

●What is an Algorithm audit?

●Why is it important to conduct an algorithm audits?

4. Finally, sign-up for an account on OPEN AI, and take 15 (or so minutes) to ask their Q&A some questions. Play around. See if you notice anything weird. Or interesting.

●What did you learn?

●What type of algorithm audit might we run on this service?

5. When you have answered questions 3 & 4, send an email to BLTPHD@VT.EDU with the Subject Line: MKTG 4994 to get credit for this work. I’ll reply to the most interesting responses.

If you have any questions hit me up at the same email.

Turn this assignment in before 2/12/22 at 11:59PM.
