Fix the Music in Zoom!
My wife is a Zumba addict. And during this COVID-19 lockdown she is filling her free time with Zoom Zumba Classes (Zoomba?).
But these classes all have the same problem.
The music and sound frickin’ suck! Vacuum cleaner level suck.
So, being in the top quintile of nerds and husbands (a surprisingly large Venn diagram intersection- marry nerds, people), I found a solution to this problem.
Please (please, please) forward this to anyone that is playing music in Zoom, especially Zumba instructors. And if you know of a good live class, leave a message in the comments so I can send it to my wife.
Alright, enough preamble. Let’s fix this problem.
PROBLEM: You are playing music through your computer mic. At the same time you are trying to talk over the music. Your mic is trying its best to take in all this information, then send it to your CPU, then shoot it out to the internets. That is too much work for your (cheap, and shoddy) laptop mic.
SOLUTION: You need a dedicated Zoom account that ONLY plays music. This will be the music track. If your computer has enough memory (I think) you can do it on the same device.
Step 1: Upload your music track. You can use anything. Youtube. Itunes. Any Mp3 player. It does not matter.
Step 2: Click on share screen.
